The Full Story

Arjan Deva Yoga is solely owned and operated by 200-Hour RYT Valerie Anita Williams.


Named after her spiritual moniker meaning “divine and close to God”, Arjan Deva Yoga strives to go beyond the poses. Our goal is to provide accessible yoga and mindfulness to men and women of color, along with other underserved communities in the Cleveland area. We recognize that although yoga is a growing trend in the West, many studios and organizations lack cultural awareness and inclusion. We want students of all backgrounds and abilities to feel the benefits of true yoga.


The true definition of yoga* is the stilling of the waves of the mind. With Arjan Deva Yoga, we practice identifying and calming these “waves” to ultimately lead you into a clearer, more profound life experience. Using meditation, breathwork and yogic philosophy, you can truly embrace your inner divine and watch your body and mind transform.

ABOUT THE OWNER

Valerie (Arjan Deva) has been practicing yoga since her college days in 2014. She decided to take her casual practice more seriously after experiencing the effects of postpartum depression and anxiety. Upon finding the light within herself, she embarked on her 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training to help others reap the same benefits. Under the instruction of Sara Syed at The Studio Cleveland, Valerie completed her training and earned her Yoga Alliance certification in 2020. As a woman of color, Valerie honors the rich culture of yoga and incorporates traditional teachings into her classes and every day life.

She received hands-on expertise in a variety of yogic subjects (including Ayurveda, Ashtanga, prenatal, Naad yoga, Yin/Restorative, trauma-informed yoga, Kundalini, Nidra, astrology, anatomy/physiology, and Vinyasa). Valerie’s goal is to provide yoga and meditation to people who wouldn’t ordinarily be exposed to the practice.


She currently works as a yoga teacher with ZENworks Yoga, a local nonprofit designed to bring yoga into the Cleveland Public School system and its residents. Her style is generally Hatha-based, offering many modifications and breathing exercises to truly tap into your highest self.
